Having moved into this charming end of terrace house in the center of Cheltenham, Gloucestershire almost three years ago, the current owner, Mr Farrow knew he was undertaking a sizeable project. The Edwardian home built in 1903 boasts some lovely period details, although some were less desirable than others for today’s living standards, “when I moved in, the original single glazed sash windows were still in this house, sadly they were draughty, noisy and falling apart.”

As part of this full renovation, both inside and out, Mr Farrow visited his local Timber Windows showroom in Cirencester, “the team there really know their stuff, the service was very good indeed, there was no pressure and I felt I was in very safe hands. I simply received good, honest advice.”

Ultimately, the choice of Traditional Box Sashes was made for both the upstairs and downstairs rooms, all in a shade of Off-White. A new Chalfont design front door was also chosen in Black with an Off-White frame, Etched Star glass, a Polished Chrome Samuel Heath letter plate and matching chrome fittings such as a Doctors Knocker.

The work to the house has been wide-ranging, including a new extension to the rear, housing a remodeled kitchen and dining area, with French Doors looking out to the garden.

To the front of the house, careful thought has been given to the interior scheme, even matching Off-White wooden shutters have been fitted, “the difference is terrific, not only do they look much better in giving a pleasing natural backdrop to the rooms, but the sound insulation is a revelation; I no longer hear any road noise from passing cars.”
